Description

Delicious layers of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavored rice cereal treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups rice square cereal
  • 2 cups rice square cereal
  • 2 cups rice square cereal
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup strawberry-flavored chips or pink candy melts
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 to 2 drops pink gel food coloring (optional)
  • 1 to 2 drops white gel food coloring (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon strawberry extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt (per batch, optional)

Instructions

  1. Divide 6 cups of rice cereal into 3 bowls, with 2 cups in each for the strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate layers.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Pour over one portion of cereal and mix gently.
  3. Place the chocolate-coated cereal in a Ziplock bag with 1/2 cup powdered sugar. Seal and shake until coated. Spread out on a baking sheet to cool.
  4. In another bowl, melt 1/2 cup white chocolate chips. Stir in optional white gel coloring and 1/4 tsp vanilla extract. Mix with the second cereal portion.
  5. Add the coated cereal to a new Ziplock bag with 1/2 cup powdered sugar. Shake to coat and set aside to cool on a baking sheet.
  6. Repeat the process with 1/2 cup strawberry-flavored chips or pink melts. Add optional pink coloring and 1/4 tsp strawberry extract before coating the third portion of cereal.
  7. Shake the coated cereal with 1/2 cup powdered sugar and spread out to cool completely.
  8. Once all flavors are cool and dry to the touch, combine them gently in a large serving bowl and enjoy!
