Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch salt
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for coating)
  • Optional: powdered sugar or chopped nuts for coating

Instructions

  1. Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
  2. Stir in the orange zest and let it steep for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Place the chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  4. Pour the warm cream over the chocolate and let sit for 2–3 minutes.
  5. Stir gently until smooth and glossy.
  6. Add butter, vanilla, and salt. Stir until fully combined.
  7. Chill the mixture in the fridge for 1–2 hours until firm.
  8. Scoop into small balls and roll between your palms.
  9. Coat in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, or chopped nuts.
  10. Chill for 30 more minutes or serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider using chocolate with a higher cocoa content.
  • These truffles can be served immediately, but chilling enhances their texture.
