Description
Crispy stuffed olives filled with creamy cheese and fried to perfection, perfect as an appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups large green olives, pitted
- 1 cup cream cheese or goat cheese (for stuffing)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Parmesan cheese, grated (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Instructions
- Stuff the Olives: Fill each olive with cream cheese or goat cheese using a small spoon or piping bag.
- Set Up Breading Stations: Place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs each in separate shallow dishes. Season the flour with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Bread the Olives: Roll each stuffed olive in the flour, shaking off excess. Dip into the beaten eggs, ensuring they are fully coated. Finally, roll the olives in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Preheat the Oil: In a deep skillet or saucepan, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the Olives: Carefully place the breaded olives in the hot oil in small batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve warm as an appetizer or snack.
Notes
- Ensure the cheese is well chilled for easier stuffing.
- You can experiment with different fillings like minced meat or tapenade for variation.
- Make sure the oil is not too hot to avoid burning the breadcrumbs before the inside is heated through.
- For a healthier version, consider using an air fryer instead of deep frying.
