Description
A quick and easy chicken and asparagus stir-fry that’s packed with flavor!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pieces chicken breasts (thinly sliced)
- 1 bunch asparagus (trimmed and cut into manageable lengths)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil (toasted for flavor)
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil (high smoke point, like canola or grapeseed)
- optional for topping sesame seeds or scallions (for garnish)
Instructions
- Start by heating your wok or skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the cooking oil and let it swirl to coat the surface, listening for a gentle sizzle.
- Place the thinly sliced chicken into the hot pan, spreading it out so each piece makes contact with the surface. Let it sear undisturbed for about 2-3 minutes until it develops a light golden color and is cooked through, then stir or flip to cook the other side briefly.
- Push the chicken to one side of the pan and add the minced garlic to the empty space. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, stirring constantly to prevent burning and bitterness.
- Add the trimmed asparagus to the pan, arranging them around the chicken. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the asparagus turns bright green and starts to blister at the edges.
- Pour in the soy sauce and drizzle the sesame oil over the mixture. Toss everything together quickly, making sure the sauce coats all ingredients evenly. Continue cooking for another 30 seconds until flavors meld and the asparagus is crisp-tender.
- Remove the pan from heat and transfer the stir-fry to a serving plate. Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped scallions if desired, adding a final crunch and burst of flavor.
- Serve immediately while hot, enjoying the contrast of tender chicken and crisp asparagus with fragrant garlic and savory soy sauce.
Notes
- This dish pairs well with steamed rice or noodles.
