- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 small yellow onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups cottage cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Boil lasagna noodles until al dente, drain, and lay them flat to prevent sticking.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil and cook the onion until translucent. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add ground beef or turkey and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Stir in marinara sauce and let it simmer for 10 minutes on low heat.
- In a bowl, mix cottage cheese with the beaten egg, Parmesan cheese, and half of the mozzarella.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- Layer noodles, cheese mixture, meat sauce, and repeat. End with noodles, sauce, and remaining mozzarella on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Make sure to overlap the noodles slightly to create a solid structure for the lasagna.
- Fresh herbs can elevate the flavors, feel free to add them as you like.
