Description

A delicious and easy taco pie recipe perfect for family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup diced green onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped green peppers (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Roll out the pie crust and place it in a pie dish. Press the crust along the bottom and sides. Trim any excess crust.

  3. Pre-bake the crust for 10 minutes until slightly golden. Set aside to cool.

  4. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned.

  5. Drain excess fat and stir in the taco seasoning. Cook according to the seasoning packet instructions.

  6. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  7. Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly over the pre-baked pie crust.

  8. Add a layer of shredded lettuce on top of the beef.

  9. Layer the diced tomatoes and green onions over the lettuce.

  10. Spread sour cream over the top, followed by a generous layer of shredded cheddar cheese.

  11. Return the assembled pie to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  12. Let the pie cool for 5 minutes before slicing.

  13. Garnish with additional diced tomatoes or a sprinkle of chopped green peppers if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a layer of refried beans under the beef.
  • If you like a bit of heat, add sliced jalapeños before serving.
  • Experiment with different cheeses like Monterey Jack or pepper jack for added zest.
  • Use a fork to crimp the edges of the crust for a decorative touch.
