Description

Delicious homemade Orange Coconut Truffle Bites made with white chocolate, orange zest, and shredded coconut.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped candied orange peel (optional)
  • Additional shredded coconut for rolling

Instructions

  1. Melt Chocolate: In a double boiler, melt the white chocolate chips with the heavy cream over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
  2. Add Flavor: Remove from heat and stir in the orange zest, orange extract, and candied orange peel if using. Mix well to combine.
  3. Chill Mixture: Cover the mixture and refrigerate for about 1 to 2 hours, or until firm enough to handle.
  4. Shape Truffles: Once the mixture is firm, use a spoon to scoop out small amounts and roll them into balls between your palms.
  5. Coat Truffles: Roll each truffle in the additional shredded coconut until fully coated.
  6. Final Chill: Place the coated truffles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and chill in the refrigerator for another 30 minutes to set.

Notes

  • Consistency Check: Ensure the truffle mixture is firm enough to roll. If too soft, chill for an extra 30 minutes.
  • Flavor Variation: Experiment with different citrus flavors by substituting lemon or lime zest and extract.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
