Description
A delicious recipe for crispy chicken cordon bleu featuring chicken breasts, ham, and Swiss cheese, all baked to perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 4 slices of ham
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Chicken: Pound the chicken breasts to about 1/4-inch thickness using a meat mallet. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Assemble the Roll: Lay a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast. Carefully roll up the chicken breasts, securing them with toothpicks.
- Coating: Prepare three separate bowls: Bowl 1: Mix flour with a pinch of salt and pepper. Bowl 2: Beat the eggs and mix with Dijon mustard. Bowl 3: Combine breadcrumbs with Parmesan cheese.
- Bread the Chicken: Dredge each chicken roll in the flour, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Cooking: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Sear each roll for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through.
- Serving: Remove toothpicks before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a slice of tomato inside the roll.
- Make sure the chicken is rolled tightly to ensure the cheese doesn’t ooze out.
- Using a meat thermometer ensures the chicken is cooked perfectly (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
