Description

Deliciously crispy buffalo chicken tenders, perfect as an appetizer or main dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound chicken tenders
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup buffalo sauce
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
    • In another bowl, pour the buttermilk.
  2. Dredge the Chicken:
    • Dip each chicken tender in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
    • Shake off any excess flour, then dip the tender into the buttermilk.
    • Return the tender to the flour mixture and coat again. This double coating ensures extra crispiness.
  3. Frying:
    • Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large skillet to about 350°F (175°C).
    • Carefully place the chicken tenders in the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding.
    • Fry for about 5-6 minutes, turning occasionally, until the coating is golden brown and the chicken is cooked through.
    • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Buffalo Sauce Coating:
    • In a small bowl, mix the buffalo sauce and melted butter.
    • Toss the crispy chicken tenders in the buffalo sauce mixture until well coated.

Notes

  • For Extra Crunch: Allow the coated chicken to sit for 5-10 minutes before frying for an even crispier texture.
  • Temperature Control: Make sure the oil temperature remains steady between batches to ensure even cooking.
  • Spice Level: Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper and buffalo sauce to suit your preferred level of spiciness.
  • Serving Suggestions: Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing and celery sticks for a classic combination.
