Description
A deliciously creamy and flavorful meatball dish with spinach, perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground meat (beef, turkey, or chicken)
- 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- to taste salt
- to taste pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped spinach, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
- Cook the Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
- Prepare the Creamy Sauce: In the same skillet, add the heavy cream, chicken or vegetable broth, oregano, and basil. Stir to combine and bring to a gentle simmer. Add the mozzarella cheese to the sauce and stir until melted and the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Combine and Serve: Return the meatballs to the skillet with the creamy sauce. Spoon the sauce over the meatballs and let them simmer together for 3-5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the skillet is not overcrowded when browning the meatballs to achieve even cooking.
- You can use frozen spinach instead of fresh; just be sure to thaw and drain it well before adding to the meatball mixture.
- For a richer sauce, add a tablespoon of butter to the cream sauce.
- Serve with pasta, rice, or crusty bread for a complete meal.
