Instructions
- Caramelize the Bananas:
- Slice the bananas into thick rounds.
- In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
- Add 1 cup of granulated sugar and cook until it turns a caramel color.
- Place the banana slices in the caramel and cook for 2 minutes on each side.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare the Pudding:
- In a medium saucepan, combine milk, heavy cream, 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Whisk together until smooth.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Assemble the Dessert:
- In a serving dish, layer half of the caramelized bananas.
- Pour half of the pudding over the bananas.
- Add another layer of the remaining bananas.
- Top with the remaining pudding.
- Finishing Touches:
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Sprinkle this mixture over the top layer of the dessert.
- Chill:
- Refrigerate the dessert for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve:
- Serve with a dollop of whipped cream on top.
